Unit 4

This blog is actually written by a family friend, who was also my sixth grade English teacher and my first real employer as I babysat her children on a regular basis. Once I graduated high school and got married, my husband and I moved across the country and we lost touch. Thanks to the modern technologies of Facebook we were able to reconnect all these years later. There are many things that I like about this blog besides the obvious fact that I enjoy keeping up with friends.
Recently the Somers family moved back to England so that their children could experience growing up in a different country, as well as the country that both parents were raised in. I think this is so fabulous on so many levels. As a young woman interested in travel the idea of spending a few years abroad is exciting. The chance to visit the English countryside, museums, and getting to experience a totally different culture sounds like such a wonderful learning experience and grand adventure. I love reading all of the things that they as a family are doing. I also, as a mother, think of the great learning experience this is for their children. To be able to show them a different culture, a different way of life sounds so wonderful.
I love the way the blog is set up. You get to read all the about the different places they are visiting and all the different things they are experiencing, while also adding the family fun side into it. As someone who is new to blogs I also find it easy to navigate and easy to follow and find pictures which makes it such a more enjoyable experience.

  1. This family is so forunate to have their children experience different life styles abroad. The differences in culture and social interaction is priceless. A blog is a great place to share their travels and they will be able to bring back so many wonderfull experiences to family and freinds. We often get consumed by oiur own enviroment that we forget some of the international wonders that surrond us.
    I am still dreaming.

  2. This is a very interesting blog that you chose, it is set up very well and seems to be updated frequently. It is great to see how other people are living their lives and living abroad. The photos that are on the blog really capture the emotion and scenery that they encounter on the journey. It kind of makes you jealous when you think they are out there traveling and having a good time and we are stuck over here. The stories are short but give the reader a good sense of what they are doing on a daily basis. The places they visit look extremely beautiful and it seems like they are having a great time. Thanks for sharing.

  3. Sarah,
I am very impressed with your blog choice. Not only is it awesome that you are able to reconnect on another level with this family from your past, but you are also able to enjoy what they are personally experiencing through their travels.

The aesthetics, as well as the posts of this blog, kept me interested and focused. I love that they are not only including their family, but the world, through their RSS feeds. It is an invaluable experience that they are offering their children, but in turn are also offering everyone else who doesn't have the same opportunities to travel as they do. They are educating so many to another terrain and culture.

Another superior asset of this blog is the photography. I was so impressed with the quality and purity of the photographs that accompany each post. Obviously, the authors are very gifted in photography, as well as expressing their thoughts and experiences.

I really enjoyed reading your review and visiting the blog itself!!

    Thanks!
